AI comes with significant risks, ranging from security vulnerabilities and ethical concerns to potential misuse and unintended consequences. Managing AI risks is paramount to delivering mission-driven AI in an ethical, responsible, and safe manner. The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) AI Risk Management Framework (RMF) provides voluntary guidelines for managing AI risks when building, operating, inspecting and deploying AI systems, across four functions: map, measure, manage, and govern.
