Domino Data Lab Achieves AWS Machine Learning Competency Status
November 29, 2017
SAN FRANCISCO — November 28, 2017 — Domino Data Lab (Domino), a leading solution for data science acceleration, announced today that it has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) Machine Learning (ML) Competency status. This designation recognizes Domino for providing business analysts, data scientists and ML practitioners with automated, cutting-edge tools to create and deploy predictive models on AWS.
“Having our data scientists rally around a central Domino solution, through which they can easily and scalably leverage AWS resources, allows them to work faster and deliver greater value, more efficiently.”
– Naveen Singla, Data Science Center of Excellence Lead, Bayer
While already an Advanced Technology Partner in the AWS Partner Network (APN), achieving the AWS ML Competency differentiates Domino as an APN member that has built solutions to help organizations solve their data challenges, enable machine learning and data science workflows or offer API-based capabilities that enhance end applications with machine intelligence. Attaining the AWS ML Competency demonstrates to customers that Domino has proven expertise in AI and ML on AWS.
“We’ve found that data science workloads are perfectly suited for the cloud, and many mature data science organizations run Domino on AWS,” said Scott Armstrong, head of business development at Domino. “Achieving AWS ML Competency status reflects the traction of ML solutions, and a growing business demand to run these solutions with speed and efficiency at scale.”
AWS is enabling scalable, flexible and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Partner Competency Program to help customers identify Consulting and Technology APN Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.
“Given the complexity of building a scalable and reliable production workflow that serves billions of predictions, deploying machine learning at scale is still a challenge,” said Joseph Spisak, Global Lead for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Partnerships, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “We are thrilled to have Domino Data Lab join us as an APN Partner for the Machine Learning Competency Program. By automating routine tasks, teams are able focus squarely on the problems they are trying to solve and spend less time worrying about how to optimize and deploy their models.”
This is Domino’s second AWS Competency. Domino first achieved the AWS Financial Services Competency. The Domino solution provides a UI for data science organizations to run, build, deploy and share models using the tools they know and love. Under the hood, Domino leverages AWS resources, either in a virtual private cloud (VPC) or in a managed SaaS environment. Domino automates elastic compute resources, container orchestration, content revising and more, while letting IT monitor and control resource usage. With Domino on AWS, organizations work faster, deploy results sooner, scale rapidly, and reduce regulatory and operational risk—accelerating research and gaining seamless governance of modeling processes.
“We rely on data science to ultimately help farmers feed a growing population in the face of challenges such as climate change and water scarcity, specifically by applying machine learning models to accelerate plant breeding and improve harvests for modern agriculture,” said Bayer’s Data Science Center of Excellence Lead Naveen Singla. “Having our data scientists rally around a central Domino solution, through which they can easily and scalably leverage AWS resources, allows them to work faster and deliver greater value, more efficiently.”
