As someone working at Domino Data Lab, where we provide enterprise Statistical Computing Environments (SCEs) and data science solutions to the life sciences industry, the upcoming PHUSE EU Connect 2024 (November 10-13) is one of the better conferences that we get to go to. This event is packed with sessions that directly align with the work we’re doing at Domino — empowering organizations to streamline their clinical trial processes, optimize statistical programming workflows, and leverage advanced AI and analytics capabilities. In reviewing the agenda, I am particularly excited about the following themes and sessions.
Data science and AI in clinical development
Sessions under this theme focus on leveraging advanced technologies like AI and machine learning to drive innovation in clinical trials and drug development.
• Johnson & Johnson: Leveraging Data Science in Global Clinical Trials – This session explores the role of data science in optimizing clinical trial processes across global landscapes.
• Roche: Improving Patient Outcomes Through Predictive Analytics – Discusses how predictive analytics is used to enhance patient outcomes in drug development.
Regulatory submissions and compliance
This theme covers regulatory challenges and innovations, particularly the use of AI and data science to streamline regulatory submissions.
• Bayer: AI in Regulatory Submissions – Focuses on the integration of AI tools in regulatory submission processes to improve accuracy and speed.
• GSK: Navigating Compliance for Global Submissions – Highlights strategies for ensuring regulatory compliance across different markets.
Statistical computing and programming
With a growing focus on data, this theme highlights best practices and advances in SCE and statistical programming.
• Best Practices for Implementing Statistical Computing Environments (SCE) – Discusses how companies can effectively set up and manage their SCE for better data science workflows.
• Advances in Statistical Programming for Clinical Trials – Explores innovative techniques and tools in statistical programming for designing and analyzing clinical trials.
Real-world evidence and data integration
Sessions in this theme focus on real-world data (RWD) and integrating diverse datasets to support clinical and regulatory decision-making.
• Novo Nordisk: Harnessing Real-World Data for Clinical Trials – Explores how RWD is being utilized to supplement clinical trial data.
• AstraZeneca: Challenges and Opportunities in Data Integration – A deep dive into the complexities and solutions for integrating diverse datasets in clinical research.
Open source and technology integration
This theme emphasizes the use of open source tools like R and Python, as well as new technologies for data management and analysis.
